My name is Quinn Beato, and I am a Biomedical Engineering PhD student and science communicator.
By day, I investigate biomedical applications for organic semiconducting materials. Currently, I’m developing contact lens prosthetics for patients with Parkinson’s disease.
By night, I communicate science to a general audience and advocate for science-based policy. I work with the Science Policy Outreach Taskforce (SPOT) at Northwestern University to communicate science with the general public through free STEM lectures and short form media. I also develop one-page policy briefs advocating science-based policy for the Illinois State Legislature.
I want to both communicate science to the general public, and convey perceptions of science to scientists and engineers. I also aim to advocate for science-based policy to move towards a better, safer, and more equitable future.
